Kokkaffe

Here is a guide to brew the perfect cup of classic Kokkaffe.

I will always claim the best kaffe is brewed over an open fire close to a mountain stream.

  • Water from the stream
  • Coffee grounds suitable for boiling, ie more coarse than regular
  • Optional salt
  • A fire
  • A kettle

Fill the kettle with water and bring to a boil, add the coffee grounds. If you want a really Swedish coffee, make sure to add one coffee measure per 15 cl (0,6 cups) water plus one for the kettle. Bring to a second boil, take the kettle off the fire. Let it sit for a while, then pour a cup of coffee, pour it back in to the kettle. Repeat a few times. Let the grounds sink to the bottom, pour the final product and enjoy!

The optional salt is just a pinch of salt in your perfectly brewed cup to enhance the flavours. It’s worth a try!
