The last three weeks have been spent house sitting in the north. We even managed to spend time with family and friends! After six months of working for free in Malawi, we took most of our time off. Because we can. And because others spoil us with full size beds and hot showers.

This crazy boy called Ailo decided he knew how to climb and got out on his own a couple of times. He has a real case of fomo. So much that he ran after the dogsleds with tourists from Icehotel. Yeah. That was intense. Thankfully he never got to the leader dog, that would have been catastrophic. The other two dogs were happy to just hang out with us.

We harvested from nature, had time to sleep and sat by the fire with loved ones. All in all a very satisfying time.

Of course we had to get going with our next project as fast as possible, so we just finished the bones of our ark! An ark is a small structure that is best described as a permanent tent on skids. It’s going to be stationed at a small mountain lake called Nakerjaure, prime fishing, hiking and hunting area. The walls, roof and floors are done, it’s standing on it’s skids in the forest waiting for the early spring when we’ll be back to pull it with snow mobile to its location. Updates on the interior will come by then.

Then we had to get all of our stuff together. We already downsized our lives like crazy when we moved into Kojan, but we still had junk lying in a locker my uncle provided us. So I went through it, saving as little as possible and packed the van with the rest. Such a peace of mind to know that we have all we need but not much more.

The van’s in shape, just needs a few lights to be switched out. Still do, but we’ll get to it. However, when we arrived Gällivare we realised something was wrong with the hydraulic pump to the power assisted steering. It’s leaking fluid, and what’s leaking looks nasty.. So we filled it up and continued four more hours to Sebastian’s family home in Österjörn where I’m currently sitting with my cup of coffee overlooking the frozen lake.

Sebastian is in the forest with his cousin and me and my brother in law are going for a long walk with all their dogs when he’s coming back from his horses. Life simplified in our way.

All in all; I’m grateful that we are able to live this lifestyle. I’m grateful for the people we can call our family. I’m grateful for the moments we can share in nature, the day to day life.

Tomorrow is a new day, with new possibilities. See ya
